July Volunteer of the Month: Mary Haugen

Mary wanted to become more involved with local and national political issues starting with Prop 8, and participated in protests/rallies after Parkland and during the cruel child separation at the border. With Trump in office she knew she had to become part of a group to be more effective. She started attending postcard writing events two years ago, and says:
“Everyone was so welcoming and we all felt like we were making a difference. When covid hit we could no longer meet in person but we still continued to write from home. I enjoy writing postcards because I can do it as time permits and at my own pace. Great therapy too!”
